Assault By Strangulation, and Stolen Cigarettes and Diamonds: Police Blotter

The Richfield Public Safety Department releases its most recent crime report.

All the following information was taken from the Richfield Public Safety Department's crime reports from May 17, 2013, detailing incidents from May 12-15.

May 12

  • A sexual assault of a child was reported at 12:17 a.m., location withheld.
  • An unknown amount of damage to a vehicle was reported at 10:02 a.m. in the 6700 block of Xerxes Avenue South.
  • Someone reported a broken vehicle window at 10:03 a.m. in the 7100 block of Upton Avenue South.
  • A 35-year-old Brooklyn Center man was arrested and issued a citation suspicion of taking a cell phone. The incident was reported at 4:14 p.m. in the 6600 block of Nicollet Avenue South.
  • Officers responded to a report of parents abusing their children at 4:35 p.m. in the 10 block of 66th Street East.
  • Officers responded to a report of indecent conduct. Two juveniles were found consuming alcohol.
  • An employee of a store in the 6500 block of Penn Avenue South reported a man stole four cartons of cigarettes at 7:14 p.m.

May 13

  • A woman in the 1000 block of Rae Drive reported at 2:09 a.m. that a man assaulted her. The man was gone when police arrived.
  • Criminal damage to property was reported at 7:33 a.m. near the intersection of 64th Street East and Bloomington Avenue South.
  • Two pairs of diamond earrings, valued at $400, and $15 were reported missing at 1:04 p.m. at Richfield Health Care Center, 7700 Portland Avenue South.
  • A computer and cell phone were reported stolen at 3:44 p.m. in the 6600 18th Avenue South.
  • Criminal damage to property was reported at 5:41 p.m. in the 7200 block of Emerson Avenue South. Pry marks were reported on a garage window.
  • A 27-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested for interfering with a 911 call at 11:06 p.m. in the 1300 block of 78th Street East.

May 14

  • Someone punched out a window of a van in the 7700 block of 2nd Avenue South and took a pressure washer. It was reported at 7:58 a.m.
  • A 21-year-old man was arrested after police received a report of a couple arguing at 12:54 p.m. in the 6200 block of Vincent Avenue South. The man was arrested because police said he was violating an order for protection.
  • Graffiti was reported on an air conditioner at 4:33 p.m. in 6600 block of Penn Avenue South.
  • A man reported credit card fraud at 5:43 p.m. in the 6900 block of 17th Avenue South.
  • A 22-year-old Minneapolis man and a 20-year-old St. Paul woman were arrested in a stolen vehicle at 11:02 p.m. in the 6200 Oliver Avenue South.

May 15

  • A 22-year-old man was arrested for domestic assault, strangulation with his hands, at 7:26 a.m. in the 7700 block of 4th Avenue South.
  • Power tools were reported stolen from Menards, 7701 Nicollet Ave. S. at 10:15 a.m. The person who stole them attempted to return them for money. A 24-year-old man was cited for theft by swindle.
  • Police responded to a report of a daughter and father fighting at 1:35 p.m. in the 70 block of 77th Street West. A 48-year-old man was arrested for domestic assault, strangulation.
  • A 45-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting merchandise by using cutting tools at 7:37 p.m. at Target, 6645 Richfield Parkway.
  • A woman reported a theft at her home at 8:26 p.m. in the 6900 block of Russell Avenue South.
