Obituary: James Bussen

Bussen practiced dentistry in Richfield for 40 years and was the past president of the Richfield Optimist and Rotary Clubs.

Oct 5, 1924 - June 24, 2013 

Preceded in death by wife, Mary Joan (Shields); son, James J. Bussen; and parents, Ulric and Marie Bussen.

Survived by wife of 50 years, Joan Marie (Morneau) Bussen; sons, Timothy (Cindy), Terry (Ann), Patrick (Barb), Michael (Renae), Theodore (Michelle), and James A. (Barb) Bussen; daughters, Joan Charles, Leanne (Charles) Leeder, Pegeen (Jay) Gleason, Megan Kizershot, and Amy Bussen; 22 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

James was born Oct. 5, 1924 in St. Paul, MN. He graduated Valedictorian of the 1943 Class of Cretin High School. He served in the Infantry in the US Army in WWII and fought in the Battle of the Buldge. 

He graduated from the U of M Dental School in 1951, and practiced dentistry in Richfield for 40 years. He provided dental care for the Jesuit Seminarians for 25 yrs. He was the past president of the Richfield Optimist and Rotary Clubs, and of the Mpls District Dental Society in 1980 and 1981. He was chair of the Archbishop Annual Catholic Appeal in 1976 and was Knighted for the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem in 1978. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the VFW and the American Legion.

Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Memorials preferred to the Annual Catholic Appeal or donor's choice.

VISITATION
Date: Wednesday, June 26, 2013
Time: 5-8 p.m.
Location: Gearty-Delmore Park Chapel, 3960 Wooddale Ave South, St. Louis Park
Rosary at 7 p.m.

FUNERAL
Date: Thursday, June 27, 2013 
Time: 11 a.m. 
Location: The Church of the Holy Family, 5900 West Lake Street, St. Louis Park
Visitation one hour prior to service.
