'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' Opens Thursday Night

Regular showtimes begin at 8 p.m. at theaters near Richfield.

The buzz this week in entertainment is the second installment of The Hunger Games.

This time, Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence, is the spark of a revolution against the vicious ruling class Panem.

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" opens Thursday at various times at local theaters. The movie is 2 hours and 26 minutes and is rated PG-13. Some theaters are even offering double features, with the first installment playing before the new one. Click on the name of the theater below for more showtime information.

Here are showtimes for theaters near Richfield:

AMC Southdale 16:

  • On Thursday night, there will be there are three shows that will play simultaneously on the hour from 8-11 p.m. There are also three shows at 12:01 a.m. Friday.
  • The first IMAX showing is at 12:01 a.m. Friday.
  • The theater is located at 400 Southdale Center in Edina.
Theaters at Mall of America:
  • On Thursday night, regular shows run on the hour from 8-10 p.m. There is also a midnight showing.
  • There are also VIP showtimes at 8 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Thursday for those 21 years of age and older. For D-BOX Motion seats, showtimes are 8 p.m. and 11:05 p.m.
  • The theater is located inside MOA at 401 South Avenue in Bloomington.
AMC Theatres Arbor Lakes:
  • There are showings every half hour from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. 
  • The midnight showing starts at 12:01 a.m. 
  • The theater is located at 12575 Elm Creek Boulevard in Maple Grove.
Mann Plymouth Cinema 12:
  • Four showings on Thursday at 8 p.m., 8:15 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
  • The theater is located at 3400 Vicksburgh Lane in Plymouth.
AMC Eden Prairie Mall 18:
  • 19 showings beginning at 8 p.m.
  • Midnight showing begin at 12 a.m.
  • The theater is located at 8251 Flying Cloud Drive in Eden Prairie (in the mall).
Chanhassen Cinema:
  • Two showings on Thursday at 8 p.m. and 9:10 p.m.
  • The theater is located at 570 Market Street in Chanhassen.
Excelsior Dock Cinema 3:
  • One showing on Thursday at 8 p.m.
  • The theater is located at 26 Water Street in Excelsior.
Regal Eagan Stadium 16:
  • The Hunger Games and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire double feature: 5:15 p.m.
  • The Hunger Games: Catching Fire: There are showings every half hour from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. 
  • The midnight showing starts at 12:01 a.m.
Lakeville 21 Theatre:
  • Two Thursday showings: 8 p.m. and 12 a.m.
  • Purchase tickets at the box office, 20653 Keokuk Avenue.
