Magicians' Homestand Continues Tonight

The Minnesota Magicians (9-7-4) resume their longest homestand of the season tonight when they host the Minot Minotauros (6-12-2) at Richfield Arena. After taking on the Minotauros tonight and Saturday, Brookings will be in town for a pair of games next weekend. Minnesota will close out the homestand against Coulee Region on Friday, Dec. 6.

TRENDING: The Minotauros, owners of the league's second-worst record, have started so show signs of life lately, winning four of their last six. The Magicians on the other hand need to rediscover the dominance they showed on their home ice early in the season. The Magicians are just 1-1-2 so far on their current nine-game homestand after going 6-2 in their first eight home games.

ONE-GOAL GAME SWING: The Magicians were 5-1 in one-goal games through the end of October. But since the calendar page has turned to November, they're 2-3 in games decided by a single goal.

TOP GUNS: Balanced scoring has been one of the hallmarks of the Magicians so far this season. Seven players have four or more goals, with no one on the team having more than a half-dozen. Will Johnson (Santa Barbara, Calif.) leads the way with six goals, and Minnesota natives Matt Colford (Champlin) and Tony Uglem (Moorhead) have five apiece. Colford is also second on the team in assists with 8. Nicholas Kucera leads the way with 10.

MINNESOTA MADE: Of the 25 players on the Magicians' roster, 16 are native Minnesotans, including three from Eagan and two from Prior Lake. Friday night's game will be a homecoming for Minot's six players who hail from Minnesota.

FOOD DRIVE: Fans who bring one or more cans of non-perishable food to Saturday's game against the Minotauros will receive $1 off per ticket. The team's “Teddy Toss” is also just around the corner. Fans are asked to bring a new teddy bear to the Magicians' Dec. 20 game against the Austin Bruins, and to toss it on the ice when the Magicians score their first goal of the game. Proceeds will benefit Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.
