Doomed I say! Doomed!

The Government is shut down! Let anarchy reign! Maybe the British will come back for the Revolutionary War Part II; The Red Revenge.

Okay, maybe not. Here’s the deal, there is no need for any of this. Our politicians our not stupid, (Yes, I know. I can’t believe I said it either, but hear me out.) However as a group, they have a “mob” mentality. A civil mob if you will.  Wolves in sheep clothing who are acting like sheep.

See, our government is not that much different than we are. I believe it was Tommy Lee Jones who said it best and I am kind of paraphrasing here, “A person is smart. People are dumb.”

I am not sure Socrates could have said it better. Of course if Socrates did, I wouldn’t even be able to paraphrase him. I don’t speak Greek, or Latin, or Wal-Mart, or whatever he spoke. Maybe Sanskrit.

I have heard a lot of blame being placed here. All of it on Congress. I happen to agree. I bet if Congress didn’t get paid, this would have been solved toot sweet. Some say the Republicans others the Democrats. (Though those arguing use names a little more ribald than that.)

Me? I say it takes two to tango. Let’s take the affordable Healthcare Act. (AKA Obamacare.) Here’s where I run afoul of this. This is not about affordable health care. It is about affordable insurance. If you want to revamp healthcare, well then make sure doctors don’t have to pay a million a year in malpractice insurance or spend a million to become a doctor. Make it affordable. Kick insurance’s ass so they don’t muck up the system. The G.O.P. hates it. It is bigger Government. I tend to agree. The Government can mess up making ice. I am not sure I want them interfering with my health in any way shape or form.

For a change, I lean a little more to the Democratic side. Pass a budget so we can get on with life. You are Congress. You can’t hold your breath until you get your way and you cannot take your ball and go home when you don’t. Life goes on, so find a decent way to win.

That being said, I must admit that the shutdown does not affect me very much. I try and have as little to do with government as I can. That being said, it is inexcusable to use the people it does affect as pawns in your politics. 

Our armed forces are still defending us, even though they will not get a paycheck until the shutdown is over. The poor suffer. Children suffer. So, my hat is off to those people who should be making as much, if not more, than Congress.

Also, as a special shout out. Today a woman went bonkers with a car in D.C. The news is out why she did what she did, but the Secret Service and D.C. park cops stopped her. Unfortunately she was killed. These officers protected the people in D.C. while receiving no paycheck, or at least not with one on time. Hats off to these men and women who do it for the right reasons.

The long and short of this is that we the people… are getting real tired of your political crap.
