Richfield Patch compiles some of the best captured moments of 2011.

There were many memorable moments captured by Richfield Patch over the year, but we have a few favorites:

No. 1:

Colin Macrafic surprised his long-time girlfriend, Stephanie Lubahn, with a marriage purposal as she neared the end of the finish link of the  's Tiger Tracks 5K and Kids Run in August 2011.

No. 2:

The (RHS) senior class chose Kiersti Phenow as its 2011 Homecoming Queen on Sept. 15, 2011. She was visably shocked and excited.

No. 3:

After nearly three years of hoping and planning, developers of the broke ground on the future Lyndale Plaza apartment complex Oct. 19, 2011.

No. 4:

Richfield's and ' Kayla Mulrooney and Danielle Mendez competed in the Minnesota State High School Soccer Coaches Association's Senior Classic all-star game at the Metrodome Nov. 9, 2011. Viera, along with Benilde-St. Margaret's Paul Graupner, are overcome with happiness after their victory.

No. 5:

While the threat of bad weather was looming, veterans and community members gathered at Monday afternoon to see the unveiling of the fifth engraved tablet.

No. 6:

Richfield resident Dan Mylnarek's photograph of him reading "Dating for Dummies" was one of about 100 selected—out of more than 1,200 entries—to be displayed as part of the 100th anniversary celebration of fine arts at the Minnesota State Fair.

No. 7:

Max Hamilton, Noah Sutton, Lee Mai, Nayib Vogel, Siesse Jordan, and Olivia Volkman-Johnson were all named all-state musicians for the 2011-12 school year. The musicians gathered to pose in front of the mighty Spartans head in the music wing.

No. 8:

fourth-grade teacher, Melanie Lawrence-Smith was surprised by Fox 9 News April 21, 2011 and recognized as a Top Teacher of the Year. All falculty and students gathered in the school's cafeteria to hear the news; news which brought her to tears.

No. 9:

Sammy Myers and Anna Wysocki turned a few heads with their premature Halloween costumes at the Richfield Hometown 4th of July Street Dance July 3, 2011.

No. 10:

A gas line rupture near 60th Street and Nicollet Avenue on St. Patrick's Day 2011 rocked South Minneapolis and Richfield. There were no injuries reported; however, much of the Cub Foods exterior appeared to be singed.
