Burnsville High School student's "Purple Bowling" Fundraiser for domestic violence awareness in memory of her friend and math tutor, Anarae Schunk, has already raised met its goal of $2,800, according to the fundraising page on GoFundMe

Miya Wawracz-Harms, a junior, organized the fundraiser as part of a project in her social studies class. Proceeds from the fundraiser, minus expenses, will benefit Cornerstone, an organization working toward the prevention of domestic violence. Schunk, who worked at Richfield's Don Pablos, was found dead at the end of September in Lonsdale after she was last seen on video surveillance with an ex-boyfriend later charged with murder in another incident.

The fundraiser consisted of a bowling event at Cedarvale Lanes in Eagan on Dec. 22. Donors could receive a ticket for bowling for every $10 donated. Bowlers were encouraged to wear purple in support of domestic violence awareness.

Around 80 people attended the event, said Miya's mother, Jodi Wawracz. Bowlers were of all ages, from young children to older adults. Donations received on the day of the event included a donation of 20 percent of pizza sales from the event. Funds received on Dec. 22 are not yet included in the total amount raised.
