Hi! I'm Maggie!

Hi there! My name is Maggie and I am a foster dog. I've been in living in the area for about a month now after some wonderful people with Safe Hands Rescue brought me up from a shelter in Kentucky.

First, a little about me... not to be self-serving, but just to give you an idea of who I am. They tell me I'm about a year old, although I feel younger (and saying I'm not-quite 1 affords me more opportunities to chew on things that I shouldn't be as well as occasionally pee in the house). I'm not quite sure what kind of dog I am, other than a cute one, but I've heard "terrier mix" used in reference to me -- whatever that means.

I don't remember much of my previous childhood before I was brought to the shelter, where I spent six weeks. It kind of scares me to think that I almost didn't make it... I guess when dogs like me stay there too long that they get put to sleep. As much as I like sleeping, something about being "put to sleep" doesn't sound very good to me.

But -- I got very lucky when some nice people came for me. but, it was kind of crazy too! I was put in a van with a bunch of other dogs and we went for a drive. It was really loud and a bit scary, but we all hoped we were going somewhere better. It took a couple of days and a few stops, but it was really worth it!

I remember meeting Tom, my foster dad, for the first time. He seemed nice enough (though he had no fashion sense) but I have to admit that I didn't really like him much at first. He put me in this big sink and gave me a long bath. I'm not big on baths. But, afterwards he wrapped me up in a big towel and held me tight. It felt sooooo good! As warm as I had felt in a long time. All was forgiven with Tom after that.

I got a little confused when he kept calling me "Maggie." I had gone by "Synthia" at the shelter, but I do like the ring of "Maggie." Tom also has a bunch of nicknames for me -- I think "Peanut" is my favorite... not sure what "little poopbutt" means. That's just goofy.

Tom explained to me that I was now in Minnestota, which was quite a ways north of Kentucky and that it was going to be a lot colder. Boy, was he right! But I don't mind the cold so much because snow is so much fun to play in!

I went home with Tom to meet his wife Shawn, who I absolutely love, and their two dogs: Hudson and Isis. Hudson is 5 and a thick shaggy mix of a bunch of breeds. He can be a lot of fun, but he is really possessive. He likes to play with me most of the time, but other times he growls at me when I get near one of his toys -- which seems to be every toy in the house! Isis is an old doberman. I keep trying to play with her, but she's kind of a coot. She barks at me all the time.

Still, I'm so happy to be here! We have a lot of fun. Tom stays home all day, so I almost always have someone to snuggle with. I'm not sure how long I will be here -- I guess someday a new family and what they call a "forever home" will come my way. That sounds great! But, until that day, I'd like to keep telling you about how my life is going with my foster family. We do have a lot of fun!

Well, it's time for a nap, so I'm going to go curl up on Tom. Talk to you later!

Maggie
