VEAP Prepares to Cut
Ribbon at New 9600 Service Center

(Bloomington,
Minnesota)  -
VEAP
is pleased to announce that it will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony at its
new 9600 Service Center located at 9600 Aldrich Avenue South in Bloomington on December 23, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. The new 9600 Service Center, which will open to the public on January 6, 2014, is a response to the increased need in Bloomington, Richfield, Edina and South Minneapolis.

"For 40 years, VEAP has been a trusted community resource." said VEAP Executive Director Susan Russell Freeman. "This new 9600 Service Center will further ensure that we are up to the task of meeting the basic needs of people who are experiencing poverty in our neighborhood."

The 9600 Service Center will allow for a significant deepening of VEAP's programs, ensuring lasting outcomes for clients. These programs include transportation for homebound seniors, a comprehensive social services program and what is  currently the largest food shelf in Minnesota. Joining VEAP as a tenant in the  9600 Service Center in mid-January is the Hennepin County Human Services and  Public Health Department (HSPHD). This partnership will allow for a  "one-stop shop" for those in need, connecting them with essential resources that they previously would have had to travel very far to reach.

"This
new chapter in the story of VEAP is the culmination of efforts from every facet  of our community." said Freeman. "Businesses, churches, schools,
civic organizations and just concerned, passionate individuals have come
together to help us realize this dream."

The ribbon cutting event will begin at 1:00 p.m. at 9600 Aldrich Avenue South, Bloomington 55420. There will be light refreshments and tours of the new 9600 Service Center following the ribbon cutting ceremony.
