Artist Displays in Richfield

The Richfield Arts Commission announces artist displays for the months of November & December.

At the Community Center is Ron Wilson, current member and former Co-Chair of the Arts Commission and is one of the founding members. His works are mostly pastel, acrylic and oil. Landscape paintings are on display, but Ron also does house portrait commissions. Ron has degrees in art education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Indiana University and is a former high school teacher. He currently teaches pastel and drawing classes at Richfield Continuing Education.

More of his work and background can be found on mnartists.org: http://www.mnartists.org/artistHome.do?rid=76494

At the City Hall/Municipal Center in RAC's display case is a collection of clay work from Richfield High School's Art Class. Willie Falwell is the Art Teacher there and has gathered some student work for this display. The clay pieces are wheel thrown and there are various techniques including Fold Curl Lip & Flap Lip. The collection varies from vases, bowls and gem cups. Some color variations include black marble, leafy brown & white bailey leaf.

Willie not only is the Art Teacher at the high school, but also a member of the Arts Commission. You probably have seen him at RAC's open houses and Penn Fest. He's the one running the ever popular spin art and we know there is a lot of spin art creations out there! The Clay Collection will be on display until Mid-January.

Please take some time during the busy holiday season to relax and enjoy the artwork in these two displays!
