John Easterwood, Incumbent Candidate for Richfield School Board

With seven candidates vying for just three seats on the Richfield School Board this election, Richfield Patch asked candidates to fill out a questionnaire to aid voters in their decisions.

How long have you served as a Richfield school board member?

I am in my twelfth year.

What other relevant experience do you have?

I have served on the Curriculum Advisory committee for Richfield schools. I have served as member and president of the Charter Commission, City of Richfield. I have served as board member for the Richfield Foundation. I have been a youth soccer coach with the Richfield Soccer Association. I was co-chair of the visioning task force for the City of Richfield.

What is your occupation?

Business Initiatives Manager for Fortune 100 company.

Where did you go to school? 

High school: Jacksonville, Alabama

University: Jacksonville, Alabama

Graduate School: Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Chicago, IL.

How old are you?

57

Do you have a spouse, children or any other family members you’d like to tell voters about? 

Spouse is Pam. I have three children all of whom are graduates of the Richfield schools who have gone on to university and to successful adult lives.

What are your campaign goals?

To communicate to the community that we have strong schools with good leaders, good teachers, good programs, good facilities and bright opportunities ahead. And, that I am a good candidate for school board to advance those opportunities.

What issues are you most focused on?

My main concerns are providing the best possible education for the students of Richfield Schools. To do so we must have the best teachers for our schools, the best leaders we can attract, and effective programs and structures to support the work of the schools.

Why should voters choose you?

I bring experience, proven decision-making ability, proven ability to collaborate, and proven leadership to the role of school board member. I am focused on the educational good of the students and fiscal responsibility to the tax payers.
