What is your occupation?

I am currently retired after more than 25 years with a children’s publishing firm, and have been a CPA for 40 years.  I work, part time, at Menards in Richfield.

Where did you go to school?

I graduated from Roosevelt High School in South Minneapolis and graduated from Minnesota State University at Mankato with a Bachelor of Science Degree-Major in Accounting and Business Administration.

How old are you?

I am 66 years old.

Do you have a spouse, children or any other family members you’d like to tell voters about?

I have been married to my wife, Kathy, for 46 years.  We have 3 children, Bob, Cindy, & Debbie, all of whom are Richfield graduates and we have 4 grandchildren.

What are your campaign goals?

It’s very important to me and to the citizens of Richfield that I am re-elected this year.  The board is facing many challenges right now and I feel that my years of experience in the financial world and on the school board bring something to the table that no other candidate can offer.

What issues are you most focused on?

One of the major challenges that the board is facing right now and will still be working on into the New Year  is the Superintendent search.  I feel that continuity on the board plays a vital role in this project and I bring more experience and expertise regarding this process than any other sitting or running candidate.  Another pressing issue is the changes we are seeing in enrollment.  I’m focused on doing what we can to keep class sizes down, interested in hearing from Richfield citizens regarding a possible fifth elementary school, and dedicated to helping find solutions to narrow the achievement gap.

Why should voters choose you?

I am an experienced school board member and have a proven record of listening to and working with the citizens of Richfield.  My dedication and commitment to this office are unwavering.  To my knowledge, I have only missed three regularly scheduled board meetings during my 25 years in office. I am always proud to stand up and say that I am a resident, parent, community member, and elected official in Richfield.  Being elected to the Richfield School Board is a responsibility and an honor that I take very seriously.  This office takes far more time, dedication, preparation, and reflection than most people realize and I’ve proven time and again that I have the patience, knowledge, and experience to continue serving the great people and students of Richfield.
