Pet of the Week: Playful Peter

Peter was found as a stray in Shakopee and is looking for a new home.

Editor's note: This is a new weekly series called "Pet of the Week" where we feature a companion up for adoption from Pet Haven of Minnesota.

Every two weeks, Richfield Petco partners with Pet Haven of Minnesota for adoption events for dogs and cats that need new homes.

This week's Richfield Patch Pet of the Week is Peter:

Peter is a 1-year-old Labrador Retriever/Staffordshire Terrier mix, who was found as a stray in Shakopee before entering a Pet Haven foster home.

He currently lives with two other bully breed foster dogs in the home, his adult foster mom and dad, and their three kids ages 16, 10 and 8. And he has been enjoying all the attention he gets.

Peter loves to be outside, going for car rides, tearing apart Kongs, and playing with anyone he meets. And like most youngsters, after about ten minutes, he’s on to something else- typically lounging with his owners.

He is very well potty-trained, but is only somewhat trained with crating, and any new family will have to be consistent in their training with him.

Because Peter comes from foster family with a full-house, we think Peter fits perfectly in almost all living scenarios. Unfortunately, Peter wouldn’t be a good fit for a family with cats. He thinks they’re too much fun and would probably run them ragged. (Your cat will thank you). Feline lovers aside, everyone should consider adopting this exuberant, loving animal.
