Patch Picks: Best Places to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day

Richfield Patch lists five great places to celebrate the green holiday.

If your looking to celebrate St. Patrick's Day to the sounds of bagpipes while drinking a green beer, Richfield Patch has the picks to help you celebrate the holiday right.

Top Five Places to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day

  • O'Gara's Bar & Grill: O'Gara's, located on Snelling Avenue in St. Paul, will be celebrating it's 70th anniversary starting at 8 a.m. this St. Patrick's Day. The event will take up the entire establishment's lot with music, food, drinks and bagpipers inside and out. There will be a tent set up in the parking lot with various vendors and musical acts performing throughout the afternoon.
  • One of Richfield's finest restaurants has great specials planned for Thursday's festivities. The restaurant is offering 20 ounce glasses of green beer for $3.50, Ruben sandwiches and fries for $9.50 and a corned beef and cabbage meal for $10.95 from open to close.
  • If you're looking to stay local, Sandy's Tavern will feature green beer and Kevin Parks, long-time Sandy's bartender, dressed as an Irish fool; his words, not ours.
  • Kieran's Irish Pub: This Downtown Minneapolis staple is hosting nine musical acts on the big holiday starting at noon on the main stage.
  • O'Donovans Irish Pub: O'Donovan's is hosting an all-day tent party with bands and bagpipers from around the Twin Cities. Enjoy drinks, food and authentic Irish music from open to close.

May the luck of the Irish be with you Thursday and please make arrangements for sober transportation if you're taking in the green beer.
