Great Escape: A Clay Date

Looking for a little time with your honey this weekend? Patch has just the thing to do.

Did you melt while watching Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore romantically make pottery in the movie “Ghost”? Ever wanted to try your hand at turning clay into something functional? Patch has just the ticket: Make a "clay date” at Fired Up Studios in Uptown Minneapolis.

The two-hour class will have you and your significant other experimenting with your creative side and a pottery wheel. There is no experience required and all the materials are provided for you. Once you have created your masterpieces, they are fire glazed and ready to pick up two weeks later.

The cost is $60 per person and $50 if you can gather six to 10 people; cost includes class, materials and glazing. Participants are also allowed to bring snacks and even beer or wine to enjoy. Metered parking is available and should be free on the weekend, but pay close attention to the city’s parking signs.

So go ahead explore your creativity. Who knows? You could be a natural pottery artist—just remember to wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Reservations and payment in full prior to the class is required. For more information about Fired Up Studios, click here.
