Governor Orders Flags At Half-Staff For Richfield Grad Killed in Afghanistan

Army Spec. Kedith L. Jacobs was killed May 27 in an attack on his unit.

Gov. Mark Dayton ordered flags to be flown at half-staff Wednesday to honor Army Spec. Kedith L. Jacobs, a military member since 2010 and 2008 graduate.

According to an Associated Press release on CBS Local, Jacobs was killed May 27 in an attack on his unit and he earned the Purple Heart and Bronze Star, among other awards. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, and 2-year-old daughter, Alora.

Flags at all state and federal buildings throughout the state were ordered to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset Wednesday. More than 1,800 U.S. Military members have died in Afghanistan since late 2001.
