Alert: Freeze Warning in Effect for Richfield; Gardeners Should Cover Plants

The first frost is coming early in 2011.

Widespread frost is expected across Richfield and much of the state overnight Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) website. NWS has also issued a freeze warning from midnight to 8 a.m. Thursday.

An overnight low of 35 degrees is expected in Richfield with low winds at 6 to 9 mph.

For those residents with , plants and other sensitive vegetation left uncovered could be at risk of dying—well before the end of the summer growing season. Some master gardeners suggest covering plants with bedsheets to prevent damage.
