Accent Signage Releases Statement on Newtown Shooting

The Minneapolis business was open fired on by Richfield native Andrew Engeldinger Sept. 27.

Accent Signage, the site of a horrific shooting on Sept. 27, 2012, released a statement Tuesday morning regarding the Newtown, CT school shooting:

Our thoughts and prayers are with the community of Newtown, Connecticut.

We were horrified to hear about yet another senseless act of violence that robbed families of their loved ones.

We mourn the loss of the twenty young students, along with the seven adults who devoted themselves to enriching children's lives, even with their last heroic actions.

We stand in solidarity with all those who have lost loved ones in these unspeakable tragedies.

Note: The seven adults killed in Newtown included the suspect's mother. Initial reports that she worked at the school were wrong, according to authorities.

Richfield native Andrew Engeldinger open fired on Accent Signage employees after being terminated that September Day. Six were killed and Engeldinger took his own life. Engeldinger's parents, who still live in Richfield, said their son had struggled with mental illness for years.

The son of slain Accent Signage owner went to NYC almost immediately following the Newtown tragedy to talk gun control.

After shooting his mother four times in the head, Adam Lanza, 20, drove to Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown and open fired on school faculty and young students Friday, Dec. 14. Lanza reportedly suffered from Asperger syndrome, however, this is still being looked in to. For more coverage from Newtown, go to newtown.patch.com.
