Where do you find your creative inspiration?

Sometimes it is really easy to postpone creating art because we convince ourselves that we don’t have the right materials, or we can’t find the right inspiration or it’s not the right time of day, or … I think you get where I’m headed with this. It sounds familiar, right? It’s moments like these that we need to step out of our creative space (or lack-of creative space) and take a walk!

This Saturday, Molly with Crosstown Creativity, is going to take us on a Found Art Walk. Join us! We’ll spend the afternoon taking a walk and gathering all the creative inspiration our surroundings can offer. We’ll look for patterns in nature, create a color palette from the flowers and look for pieces of paper that have messages we can use or that we could paste into our journals, a poem, or on a final painting.

All you need is a comfortable pair of walking shoes, a journal/sketchbook, and a writing instrument. A baggie to collect found items will be provided. You can also bring a camera, colored pencils, a travel set of paints, and/or adhesive materials (glue stick, tape, etc …), but keep in mind that we’ll be walking around, so pack lightly!

Above all else, remember – this is about using what we find and not worrying about having the “right” stuff.

See you on Saturday!
