Happy Independence Day!

Today, as we are enjoying this very special American holiday we should recognize that every American plays a vital role keeping our Independence secure.

Happy Independence Day!

This 4th of July will be marked with parades, bar-b-ques, fireworks and time spent with family and friends, as it should be.

As I am out and about soaking in the day with people throughout the district I’ll reflect on two powerful quotes that are relevant on this Independence Day:

“And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country.”

“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.”

Today, as we are enjoying this very special American holiday I ask that everyone pause to remember our servicemembers who keep us safe. We should also recognize that every American plays a vital role keeping our Independence secure. 

Our American story began with active participation and sacrifice by ordinary men and women who desired a better life. 

Our American story has been enriched throughout history because of the blood, sweat and tears that secured our Independence. 

And our American Independence will only endure through active participation and sacrifice from ordinary people who desire a better life. 

Two of our most celebrated President’s reminded us that it is up to ordinary men and women to ensure that the flames of Independence and Freedom are never extinguished.

We must ensure that it burns bright for the generations that are to come.

We must ensure no government entity or political party steals from us what has been rightly earned by those who came before us. 

We must understand today that every American is a defender of freedom and entrusted to safeguard not just our legacy but our Independence!

Nothing like sowing the seeds of Islamophobia, Mr. O'Donovan. Eerily similar to the days of Joseph McCarthy and his deceptive Red Scare. And I thought you were FOR religious freedom. Typical CONservative; you're only for religious freedom when it is freedom for YOUR religion, hell be damned for every other religion.

To the other John, nice straw man argument son. There is a clear difference between religious freedom and religious extremists (who do not believe in religious freedoms themselves) which CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood fall under the later. It would take you literally 5 minutes of objective research to come to the conclusion that neither CAIR nor the Muslim Brotherhood are good people, and that they have an extreme agenda that is a threat to the American people. If you really want to get ambitious, and based on your intellectual laziness your probably don't, you could spend another 2 minutes doing more objective research, in which case you would learn that Comrade Ellison has links to CAIR! Wow, how amazing!!! What a wonderful world we live in John....where people are immediately labeled bigots, racists, Islamophobes, or any of the plethora of names the left in this country uses to silence speech and honest thought. No serious person hates all Muslims John, only the extremist that want to kill the west and rule their countries like it was during the 14th century. PS, if you need help using google to conduct your research, feel free to write me, and I'll help point you in the right direction.

You are entitled to your own opinions. I suppose you believe that everything you read on the internet is true and factual just like you probably believe that Iraq still had weapons of mass destruction.

Another logical fallacy...come on John, pull it together. Allow me to give you a quick lesson in logic. You cannot make an valid argument by attacking the person making the argument. You actually have to defend or rebut the other person’s original argument. Now follow along here: originally you said that conservatives were Islamophobes/McCarthy-like/repeating the red scare and did not support religious freedom because they are concerned about CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood. I responded by saying, there are two types of Muslims, normal, everyday, good Muslims, which conservatives do not have a problem with, and then there are extreme Muslims like Al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood, CAIR, etc. These groups conservatives do have problems with because they pose a threat to the security of the United States, not because they are anti-Muslim. In which you responded back by attacking me and my sources by proclaiming that I believed Iraq had WMDs and that I received my information from some obscure inaccurate source. Of course Iraq has nothing to do with the argument, and if you really were serious about defending yourself, you would provide evidence or a good argument about why the Muslim Brotherhood or CAIR is not a threat to the United States.

I will give you an example of why the Muslim Brotherhood could become a serious problem to our security. Recently there has been loose talk from Egyptian officials, in which they have been saber rattling about going to war against Israel. Obviously such an act would surely mean war for the US, her allies, and the entire Middle East region. I.e., it would be very bad for everyone John. Now please go educate yourself and come back to this forum when your ready to.
