Richfield Chamber to Honor Award Recipients at Annual Gala

The gala is Friday, Oct. 5 at Minnesota Valley Country Club in Bloomington.

At its annual gala Friday night, the Richfield Chamber of Commerce will present three awards to four honorees.

The coveted Farrington Award, named after community activist Larry Farrington, will presented to both Jim Melssen and Dr. Nick Mellum. Melssen is a CPA at LaFayette, Melssen & Plath, Ltd., while Mellum is a chiropractor at Complete Chiropratic and Wellness. Both businesses are located on the 6600 block of Lyndale Avenue in Richfield. Tim Carter, managing owner of Richfield-Bloomington Honda, was the 2011 recipient.

The Sports Booster Award will go to LeeAnn Wise, principal of Centennial Elementary School and former head coach of the Richfield High School girls basketball team. Wise recently resigned as head coach after taking the team to the final game of the state tournament.

Finally, the Governmental Service Award will be presented to Floyd Roman, for his lifetime of law enforcement. Roman is 89 years old.

The gala will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Country Club, 6300 Auto Club Rd. in Bloomington. The event is open to the public, however, there is a cost.
