New Frozen Yogurt Shop to Open Just North of Richfield on Lyndale

The new Southwest Minneapolis shop hopes to draw locals from Richfield, Bloomington and Edina.

The newest addition to the 5300 block of Lyndale Avenue, FreeStyle Yogurt, is set to open its doors Tuesday, April 16. Owner Dave Brandner confirmed the opening with Patch Tuesday afternoon.

With other locations in St. Paul, Roseville and Hudson, WI, FreeStyle boasts that it can offer a healthy, frozen options for locals with a sweet tooth.

"Our product has around one-third the calories of ice cream, half the sugar, and 95 percent of our flavors have no cholesterol," Brandner told Patch in a previous interview. "Plus, every yogurt flavor is full of live and active cultures."

Just a few blocks outside of Richfield's borders, the new shop is opening next to Prima at 5315 Lyndale Ave. S. The location was chosen for a variety of reasons, Brandner told Patch in October 2012. With the 54th and Lyndale road construction project bringing wider sidewalks, and the neighborhood's relative lack of a nearby "entertainment district" like 50th and France, FreeStyle expects to have many natural customers.
