Local Business Donates $1K To Richfield Arts Commission

Larry Couture of Richfield's ECOsmarte made the donation.

The Richfield Arts Commission got a little boost a couple weeks ago after it was presented with a $1,000 check from Larry Couture, owner of ECOsmarte in Richfield.

"We typically work with a small budget from the city," Claire Gahler, a member of the commission, told Patch in an e-mail. "So to have $1,000 for us to set aside solely for art-based projects is huge."

Gahler said the commission has already invested some of the funds into a button maker and is planning on purchasing more supplies in the future.

"This donation was unexpected and greatly appreciated," she said.

The goal of the commission is to support, advocate for and raise awareness of the arts within the city. Regular art classes and open house events are also held by the commission at the Richfield Art Center, which is located within the Adventure Gardens Mini-Golf building at Veterans Memorial Park.
