El Tejaban Announces New Concept Restaurant

How about a fusion burger joint in Richfield? It's in the works.

While owners of El Tejaban are getting ready to move their restaurant to the former Eastern Buffet spot across the street, they aren’t abandoning the Hub location.

With the desire to expand and a couple years left on the Hub lease, El Tejaban representatives told the council of plans for a new concept restaurant to take over the old spot.

Now in the early planning stages, the new restaurant is likely to be a fusion burger joint with a nod to Southern California style cuisine. The feel of the new restaurant was described as a casual, relaxed atmosphere, and likened to that of the popular In-N-Out Burger chain.

The Richfield City Council approved a conditional use permit to include intoxicating liquor sales for the new El Tebjaban space at 6501 Nicollet Ave. S. July 9. The restaurant has been a tenant of the Hub Shopping Center for about five years and plans to open in the new spot in early 2014. An opening date for the concept restaurant was not given.
