Police Identify Victim of Richfield Shooting

Five persons of interest were taken into custody Saturday afternoon. Three have since been released.

Richfield police have identified the 20-year-old shot and killed at a home on the 6900 block of 16th Avenue South Saturday afternoon.

Fernando Leon-Celis was found inside the Richfield home around 4:40 p.m. Saturday afternoon. While Richfield rescue personnel and Hennepin County paramedics administered CPR, Leon-Celis was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a recent police press release.

In addition, three of the five persons of interest taken into custody after the incident yesterday have been released. According to a Sunday press release, the other two individuals were formerly arrested and taken to Hennepin County Jail for their involvement in the incident.

Police say the incident is still under investigation and possible charges are pending. Patch will update readers as more information becomes available.
