Why Go: Teens in Grades 6-9 can learn the secrets of stage fighting at the 1 p.m. session, while kids in Grades 3-5 can learn the art of becoming an entertaining storyteller during the 3 p.m. session.

2) in Hopkins, MN

Where / When: at 7 p.m. March 4, 1 p.m. March 5 and 2 p.m. March 6.

Why Go: This performance is based on Shannon Hale’s Newbery Honor winning book "Princess Academy." Despite the title, it is a great adventure for both boys and girls ages 8 and up.

Price: Adults $15; seniors 60+ and youth ages 4-17, $12; youth ages 3 and 4 years old, $5 lap pass; youth ages 0-2 years old, free. For tickets call the Box office at (952) 979-1111 and choose option four.

3) Blessed Trinity's Presentation of

Where / When: on March 3 at 7 p.m. and March 7 at 9 a.m.

Why Go: You simply can’t pass up an opportunity to see the hardest working dwarfs in action.

Price: Free

4) in St. Louis Park, MN

Where / When: on March 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4:30-7 p.m.

Why Go: Introduce your kids to the idea of charity events being fun. Not to mention feed them a hot meal while supporting the local food shelf.

Price: No admission fee but there is an appreciated free-will offering.

5) Author in Southwest Minneapolis

Where / When:   at 1 p.m. March 5.

Why Go: The author of "Night of the Bedbugs" will fill your afternoon with juggling, cartoon drawing, reading and perhaps a bit of singing - all in the name of bedbugs.

Price: Free
