Wood Lake Announces Speaker for Benefit Dinner

The event is April 27 at Minnesota Valley Country Club.

Peggy Knapp, currently serving as director of programs at the Freshwater Society, will be the guest speaker at the annual Benefit Dinner, scheduled for Friday, April 27 starting at 6 p.m. at the Minnesota Valley Country Club, 6300 Auto Club Road, Bloomington.

Knapp has been an environmental advocate for years and is well known for her work on popular television programs such as Newton's Apple, Earth Matters, Network Earth and The American Edge. Knapp will be joined by event emcee Nancy Nelson from AM950 Radio.

Knapp will focus on promising trends in the world of environmentalism and has titled her talk "Progress by the Spoonful." She promises dinner guests will leave inspired and with a sense of hope for a bright future.

Knapp has received widespread recognition for accomplishments as a media personality. She won several awards as a reporter with Newton’s Apple on PBS. Knapp also served as a reporter and producer for CNN, where she reported on environmental issues from the floor of the ocean to the peaks of mountains. Known as a highly intriguing speaker, Knapp entertained audiences as a standup comedian before her career in environmental journalism.

Dinner guests will enjoy opportunities to win valuable prizes throughout the dinner by participating in giveaways, drawings and a silent auction.

Funds raised at the dinner will help support nature programs, facilities and habitat preservation at the Wood Lake Nature Center, a 150-acre nature preserve located at 6710 Lake Shore Drive, Richfield, Minnesota. The nature center offers a full range of programs for people of all ages from youth to senior citizens. Wood Lake Nature Center is operated by the City of Richfield Recreation Department and serves a people throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The varied habitat of Wood Lake includes woodlands, marsh and prairie.

Tickets are $40 for members of the Friends of Wood Lake Nature Center and $45 for non-members. Admission includes a gourmet dinner prepared onsite by the culinary staff at the country club. Tickets may be reserved by calling 612-861-9365 or online at woodlakenaturecenter.org.
