Volunteers Sought for Vacancies on Nine Mile Creek Watershed District Board

Applications are due by Aug. 29.

The Hennepin County Board of Commissioners is looking for volunteers to fill two upcoming vacancies on the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District Board.

According to a release, Geoff Nash and Steven Kloiber's terms are set to expire on Sept. 20. Kloiber is seeking reappointment to a third term, which requires a supermajority vote by the county board.

This board coordinates the management of water and related land resources in the watershed. The cities of Hopkins, Bloomington, Edina, Richfield, Eden Prairie and Minnetonka have land within the district. Because of the nature of the board, it is helpful for members to have a background in water conservation, development, law, engineering, environment or public administration. Members serve three-year terms.

The deadline for applications is Aug. 29 with interviews to be held at the following board committee meeting on Sept. 10.

A Watershed District Board member may not be a public officer of the county, state or federal government and must be a resident of the district. Board members serve three-year terms. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at Edina City Hall.
