Richfield's Bromenshenkel Named Ocean Hero Award Finalist

Sheridan Hills Elementary student Sophi Bromenshenkel is a finalist for the Oceana Ocean Hero Youth Award.

Richfield's own shark advocate was named as a finalist for the Oceana Junior Ocean Hero Award along with five other children.

The award honors youth who have made significant, ongoing contributions to ocean conservation, according to the Oceana website.

Bromenshenkel raises money for shark preservation through hot chocolate and lemonade stands, among other things, throughout the year. As of March 1, 2011, she had raised and donated more than $3,500 to shark preservation efforts.
