Pet of the Week: Mia the Beagle

Mia was found wandering near a highway in 2010 and needs a new home.

Editor's note: This is a weekly series called "Pet of the Week" where we feature a companion up for adoption from Pet Haven of Minnesota.

Every two weeks, Richfield Petco partners with Pet Haven of Minnesota for adoption events for dogs and cats that need new homes.

This week's Richfield Patch Pet of the Week is Mia:

Mia is a 6-year old Beagle who was found wandering near a highway in 2010. She is currently with a Pet Haven foster home, where she lives with another large breed dog and three adults. She is great with dogs, cats and children, but has had some stressful scenarios that caused her anxiety. But with those conditions in the past, Mia has thrived in her current environment.

Mia enjoys lounging, staying close to family, and a brisk one-mile walk to stay active. After that- calm afternoons in the sun are all Mia could wish for.

She is 100% potty trained, but not crate trained. If a family insists on crating her they will need to work on Mia’s fear of being crated. Currently, she is left with free roam of the house and does wonderfully.

Mia’s perfect family would be a calm home with like-minded adults. A lot of commotion stresses her out. A family in need of a good lap dog willing to go on casual walks would be ideal.
