Pet of the Week: Chuck The Relaxed Norfolk Terrier Mix

Chuck is perfect for someone looking for a laid-back companion.

Editor's note: This is a new weekly series called "Pet of the Week" where we feature a companion up for adoption from Pet Haven of Minnesota.

Every two weeks, Richfield Petco partners with Pet Haven of Minnesota for adoption events for dogs and cats that need new homes.

This week's Richfield Patch Pet of the Week is Chuck:

Chuck is an 8-year-old Norfolk Terrier Mix who was found on the side of the road near the Red Lake Reservation. Because of his precarious circumstances, Chuck needed some attentive care upon his arrival to Pet Haven. Chuck suffers from Lymes and Anaplasma, which are lifelong diseases but easily remedied with inexpensive antibiotics during occasional flare-ups.

(For more information feel free to search this link: vetmedicine.about.com/od/diseasesandconditions/a/CW-K9Lyme.html)

Chuck is crate trained and mostly potty trained, and he is working hard with his foster family to learn new tricks and commands, defying the "old dogs" adage.

Chuck is laid-back and casual. As such, his activity needs are low. His idea of fun is napping on the couch or lounging out in the sun all day long - both of which he prefers over walks, yet he is still only 13 pounds Lucky, right?

Chuck lives with one female adult, a cat, and two larger dogs, and he is a model of tolerance. But since we can’t be sure Chuck’s previous history, and given his age considerations, Pet Haven prefers a family without small children. Chuck likes things quiet and calm.

Chuck is the perfect fit for an adoptee looking to enjoy animal companionship that doesn’t carry a lot of physical demand but requires stability and resources to keep Chuck’s health in order. Chuck is eager to trade a wealth of affection for a welcoming and warm foster family.

Check out Chuck’s bio at  www.petfinder.com/petdetail/23142956 or meet him in person on Oct. 20 at Richfield Petco where he will be with Pet Haven’s other small breed dogs.
