More I-494 Closures Planned for Upcoming Weekend

The closures are part of the Xerxes Avenue Bridge replacement project.

Motorists may experience delays on both directions of Interstate 494 this weekend as crews continue the Xerxes Avenue Bridge replacement project.

Eastbound I-494 between France Avenue and Penn Avenue will be reduced to a single lane from 11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1 through 7 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 and again from 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 through 8 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 3.

Westbound I-494 will be reduced to a single lane between Penn Avenue and France Avenue from 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3 through 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4 and again from 10 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5.

Motorists are advised to watch for intermittent full closures of up to 15 minutes on both directions of the freeway between Penn Avenue and France Avenue as crews set bridge beams spanning the roadway. These short-term full closures will occur during the overnight hours Feb. 2 through Feb. 5.
