Pet of the Week: Armor

Each week Richfield Patch features a dog or cat looking for a forever home.

Editor's note: This is a new weekly series called "Pet of the Week" where we feature a companion up for adoption from Pet Haven of Minnesota.

Every two weeks, partners with Pet Haven of Minnesota for adoption events for dogs and cats that need new homes.

Armor was found as a stray in Brooklyn Park and spent a month in impound never reclaimed by his owners. His estimated age is around 1 year old.

This week's Richfield Patch Pet of the Week is Armor:

Armor loves to play. He will run and play with his dog toys all day long. He has a high activity level (2 walks a day). He is both potty trained and crate trained. For commands and tricks, Armor knows sit, lay down, stay and leave it. He’s pretty smart and learns very quickly. He’s not a huge fan of dog treats but loves the praise he gets from his foster parents.

Armor does really well with dominant owners who have experience with dogs. In his ideal household, Armor would be the only dog (only because he may be too in-your-face for other dogs not because he is aggressive), and his owners would be active and willing to work with him in formal obedience training courses to ensure that he will go on to be a breed ambassador with excellent obedience skills.

For more information on Armor, e-mail dogs@pethavenmn.org. More photos of Armor can be seen at flickr.com/photos/pethaven/sets/72157630153894280/. The next Richfield Petco adoption events are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Sept. 15 and Sept. 29th.
