City's Winter Parking Ordinance Back in Effect

The city's parking ordinance during the snow season is in effect until April 15.

As of Friday, Nov. 1 the City of Richfield winter parking ordinance went back into effect until April 15, 2014.

If you want to avoid a ticket or your car being towed, here are a few things to know about the ordinance:

  • The ban takes effect after two or more inches of snowfall.
  • Snow removal crews can begin plowing and Police can begin tagging and towing at any time after the snowfall.
  • Once the streets are plowed from curb to curb, vehicles can be parked again.
  • As a precaution, remove vehicles from the street when two or more inches of snow are predicted.

In addition, says it is also illegal to place your trash carts and cans in the street, alley or on the sidewalk, as this also interferes with plowing initiatives.
