City's Summer Concert Series Includes Two New Venues

For the last few years, Richfield Recreation's weekly summer concert series has been exclusively held at Augsburg Park on Thursday evening.

This year, four other dates have been added as part of the "Music on the Go" series, and two venues currently vying to be the city's future outdoor performance spot are hosting the concerts.

Lyndale Gardens, which is in the process of being redeveloped, and Veterans Memorial Park will each host two concerts beginning in late June.

For nearly a decade, the City of Richfield has been toying with the idea of creating a music venue within the city. And, as previously reported by Patch, Veterans Memorial Park was recommended as the building site for a bandshell by the Richfield Community Services Commission.

However, Lyndale Gardens developer The Cornerstone Group announced its plans to build an outdoor ampitheater last August, and hoped the city would become a partner.

According to the developer's website, the city is testing the locations to gain feedback from the community before it makes it's decision. But, regardless of which site the city picks, The Cornerstone Group still plans on building the performance space.

The following is the concert information for all three summer concert spots:

Augsburg Park

All concerts are held on Thursdays at 7 p.m.

• June 6: Richfield Symphonic Band;
• June 13: Tim Patrick and His Blue Eyes Band;
• June 20: Tone Control;
• June 27: The Resistors;
• July 4: No concert due to holiday;
• July 11: Ben Connelly;
• July 18: The Blue Drifters Duet;
• July 25: Northern Winds Concert Bands;
• Aug. 1: George Faber & Mark Knoll;
• Aug. 8: Dan Perry and Ice Cream;
• Aug. 15: Molly Maher;
• Aug: 22: TBD.

Lyndale Gardens

Both concerts are Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.

• July 10: Alison Scott;
• Aug. 7: Hub Cap.

Veterans Memorial Park

Both concerts are Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.

• June 26: Lehto & Wright
• July 24: Wayne Hamilton
