Storm Causes Power Outages in Richfield, Across Metro

Xcel Energy is working to restore power by 8 p.m.

Power is down in several Richfield and metro area neighbohoods after strong overnight storms.

At 9:30 a.m. Sunday, more than 500 Richfield homes—mostly east of I-35W—were without power and Xcel Energy is estimating that all outages should be fixed by 8 p.m. tonight, however, it could be sooner.

Residents should stay away from a fallen power line and alert Xcel Energy at 1-800-895-1999. To see Xcel's current outage map, go to xcelenergy.com, click on "Minnesota" and enter your address.

I got an email from a resident saying their power had gone out long before the storm (on Saturday afternoon around 4 p.m.) and came back on at 8 a.m. Sunday. Anyone else have this happen? Were you notified that any maintenance was being done?
