Richfield's Storefront Group to Make Name Change
The long-standing nonprofit announces a name change that will better showcase the organization's mission.

The Storefront Group, a nonprofit, comprehensive human service and mental health provider headquartered in Richfield, is officially changing its name to Headway Emotional Health Services as of July 1, 2011.
The name change comes after more than 40 years of growth from its roots as a neighborhood non-profit founded by Richfield parents concerned that local families needed support that was not available in the suburban community.
“What we offer and who we reach has expanded from our 1970 start as a small storefront operation,” said Pat Dale, CEO. “We feel Headway Emotional Health Services better describes what we are today and the services we provide in our schools and communities.”
A newly expanded website, headway.org, also launches July 1 in an effort to give the public a greater understanding of the services Headway offers and its mission to reach out into the community.
“We want people to get to know who we are r, so that if and when they need help, they know where to turn,” Dale said. “Chances are, if they have a mental health concern, or feel the need to address issues that are negatively impacting their life, we have the support
Headway offers individual, group, couple and family counseling and therapy; comprehensive divorce education and parenting classes; and medication and truancy case management – among many other services. Each year, the organization helps more than 11,000 children, adolescents, adults, couples and families around the Twin Cities work through issues such as depression and suicidal thoughts, anger management, sexual and physical abuse, truancy and divorce.
Headway Emotional Health Services offers services, programs and classes in school and community locations as well as offices in Richfield, Hopkins, Golden Valley, and classes in other Twin Cities suburbs.
