Richfield Girls Basketball Now 4-0

Spartans defeat St. Paul Highland Park, 52-34, on Wednesday night; Pioneers up next.

 

The Richfield girls basketball team, currently ranked seventh in the Class AAA poll, brought its record to 4-0 with a the 52-34 win at St. Paul Highland Park on Wednesday night.

The Spartans led by just three points, 16-13, at halftime, yet blew open the game by outscoring their hosts 39-18 over the final 18 minutes.

Guard Jessica January led all scorers with 24 points. The sophomore is currently sporting a 29.2 points-per-game average this season. Guard Sierra Ford-Washington scored 11 points, while center Bryann Guyton logged 10 points in the victory.

The Spartans face their toughest test of the season Friday when the team travels to Hill-Murray for the Classic Suburban Conference opener. The Pioneers are currently the No. 1-ranked team in Class AAA and sport a 5-0 mark heading into the 7 p.m. showdown in Maplewood.
