Poll: Which Pizza Place Will Get Your Business?
Pizza Luce is coming to town, bringing friendly competition to our beloved Fireside and Broadway restaurants.
People are buzzing with the news that Pizza Luce will open a restaurant in the old Bridgeman's spot in Richfield.
According to 55423.info, Chief Executive Officer J.J. Haywood said the company plans to soon complete construction, then hire in the spring. Richfield will be the seventh Pizza Luce outlet.
"Richfield for us is a great location," Haywood said at a Penn Central of Richfield neighborhood meeting. "We like urban areas, and Richfield as a first-ring suburb fits us very well. We like that urban feel, and we like old buildings."
As a Richfield native, I was raised on heavenly Fireside Pizza (a large, extra sausage is my favorite). To keep it interesting, Ma and Pops would even throw in a Broadway Pizza pie from time to time. However, I admit I've indulged in a Pizza Luce mashed potato pizza.
Being a gal who is loyal to the long-time Richfield businesses, I have to ask:
Which pizza place will most often get your business? Take the poll below and give a shout to your favorite pizza house in the comments section. Also, show some love (or other sentiments) to any of the pizza houses linked above by rating them in our directory.

I'm glad to have some more pizza variety here in Richfield. The old standbys are fine, but it'll be nice to have something like Luce here. What I really want is for Punch to open up here. Like maybe in one of those empty spaces in Cedar Point Commons.

Ooooh. Punch Pizza is good stuff too!

Punch Pizza would do SO well at Cedar Point Commons. In the meantime, I cannot wait for Pizza Luce to open up. I hope they will have a nice patio.

As a dedicated pizza fanatic I will spread my business liberally among all three. I'd put Fireside on top of the three listed but my local favorite is Lake Harriet Pizza, just across the border at Penn and 50th. I would also welcome a Punch but don't forget about Pizzeria Lola, serving similar fare at 55th and Xerxes.

Whoa Eric. You are definitely a pizza fanatic! I tend to find what I like and stick with it. Not that I don't try new things, but I just know it will taste good so I always get the same thing. Are Lake Harriet Pizza and Pizzeria Lola sit-down establishments?

Fireside has the best pizza in the state. Not to mention has frosty mugs and awesome staff. I am a lifer at Fireside and that will never change.

Lake Harriet Pizza is not, but Pizzeria Lola has a very nice dining room dominated by a huge, copper-clad wood-fired pizza oven.

Oooh. Wood-fired oven. Love the way pizza tastes that way. Anyone else hungry now?

Will they have a liquor license similar to their uptown location? Yum!

Oh I am sure. I don't now why the city wouldn't approve it.

I would like to publicly thank Caitlin for introducing me to Fireside Pizza by scheduling a work meeting there back during Patch's infancy. Had driven by it for years, never gone in... Oy, what I had deprived myself of for all that time!

Oh, Tom. It was my pleasure!

As far as I'm concerned, it all begins and ends with Broadway. If there's a better pizza out there, I haven't found it. But, let's face it, when it comes to pizza, it's really hard to get it wrong.

Oh, it can be done wrong. Who out there has had a disappointing pizza experience? (My hand is raised!)

Pizza Luce has GF pizza and some other yummy GF items on the menu....since my son has Celiac my vote goes to them :)

I didn't realize that Pizza Luce had gluten free options, Jennifer. That is definitely a huge plus these days. What's your son's favorite?

Yes, it's a huge plus. My son is 9 and he loves ANY kind of pizza...the more toppings the better :) They also have GF stuffed shells with rolls...so good!

Frankly my love for a good pie can handle more options. Fireside holds lots of memories in my family. I've never had a bad pizza or service from them. Looks like I'll be wanting pizza tonight. LOL

Hey, why didn't Divannis get on this poll? They are great too! I'm really excited for Pizza Luce. That is a huge win for Richfield. Each of the pizza restaurants in Richfield offer a different atmosphere and different pizza taste (I like them all), so I think each one will have their own niche.

Hey Brie. I just went with Fireside and Broadway since they've been around town a bit longer. I am definitely a fan of Davanni's too. My favorite is a sausage and pepperoni calzone! (with extra marinara, of course!) What's your favorite thing there?

Broadway Pizza is THE BEST pizza in Richfield. They are active community members as well. They should be first on anyone's list.( Pizza Luce isn't even here yet.)

How about posting a picture of Broadway Pizza on the front page too (to be fair?)

Hey there Diane, I added a photo of Broadway up top. Unfortunately, I can't get both the photos to feature at once, but nonetheless, it's there! Thanks for weighing in!

Broadway Pizza is very good. Davanni's is very good. But Pizza Luce is a significant step up. They really nail it. Fireside is completely forgettable.

I am surprised the site has waited this long for redevelopment, given its prime location near the highway interchange.

Yes. I find that interesting too, however it looks like some major work needs to be done on the interior of the restaurant. After being one thing for so many years, and then vacant for more, I'm sure it was a daunting task for most small businesses owners. Pizza Luce is a successful business and I think they have the money and the brand recognition to make it work.

Pizza Luce is going to blow the burbs' minds by far! I love Broadway, but it is not even on the same level, it is PURE grease, which hey, isn't bad sometimes. Fireside is good but I've had pizza like it at so many other places. Luce has fresh, exciting ingredients, and with gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options they are more than a cut above the rest! This is going to be the new spot!

Does anyone know if the new Pizza Luce will have weekend-brunch --- like the Downtown, Hopkins and St. Paul locations, do ?!?
Caitlin Burgess
12:26 pm on Friday, April 27, 2012
I don't know for sure, but I would assume the format would follow that of it's other restaurants. At least I hope so, Richfield doesn't really have anything for brunch. What do they usually serve?
Joe Sundberg

here is their brunch-menu. the food is great - and they have a bloody-mary bar as well - except in St. Paul. http://pizzaluce.com/menu/brunch/

as an addition - the one on 32nd and Lyndale does NOT have brunch - nor does the "Seward" location. that's why I was asking about the new place.

thank you, Caitlin !! I too, got this reply from Pizza Luce management : "Yes we will have weekend brunch at our new Richfield location complete with a bloody bar. We are looking to open in mid/late July"

No problem! This is exciting. I don't believe there is another restaurant in Richfield that offers brunch. However, I know that Fireside started to offer breakfast on Saturday and Sundays. But ... that is far different from brunch. I mean, it's brunch!
