Locals Catch Glimpse Into Future of Lyndale Gardens
The site developer held a winter market event Saturday.

Community members flocked to the former Lyndale Garden Center site Saturday for some shopping, marshmallow roasting and to catch a glimpse of the future downtown Richfield.
The Cornerstone Group, the firm redeveloping the long-vacant site, hosted the winter market event, which featured 20 local arts and crafts vendors, a live acoustic performance by the Hummingbirds, food trucks, bonfires with free s’more roasting and an appearance by Santa.
The event gave locals a little taste of what they can expect after the project is completed. After announcing initial design plans in August 2012, Cornerstone's president, Colleen Carey, said the market pavillion planned for the site would serve the Richfield Farmers Market in the warm season and as parking or perhaps a holiday or winter market in the cold months.
While the developer had hoped to start construction this fall, leases for the anchor tenants have yet to be finalized. However, Carey told Richfield Patch on Nov. 30 that she may have announcement in the near future.

I thought it was a lovely event, something that I hope will continue after the site is developed. Of course, we can't always expect to have such a mild and pleasant night. But I thought it was a great idea, well carried out.
