League of Women Voters to Host Candidate Forum

Candidates for both state and city offices will gather Saturday, Sept. 29 for a League of Women Voters of Richfield forum.

 

The League of Women Voters of Richfield is sponsoring a Candidates Forum on from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 29 at Richfield City Hall and Municipal Center.

The forum is open to the public and will include candidates for both city and state elected offices as well as a presentation on the Richfield Public Schools District’s operating levy referendum. The forum will also be videotaped for later showing on cable television.

The schedule and invited participants are as follows (* denotes incumbent):

State Offices

Time: 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

Senate

District 50: Melissa H. Wiklund (D) and Vern Wilcox (R)
District 63: Patrick Marron (R) and *Patricia Torres-Ray (D)

House of Representatives

District 50A: Joseph Koch (I), Craig Marston (R) and *Linda Slocum (D)
District 63B: Matt Ashley (R) and *Jean Wagenius (D)

Presentation on Operating Levy Referendum

Time: 10:20 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.

Presented by Superintendent Robert Slotterback, Richfield Public Schools.

Richfield City Council

Time: 10:50 a.m. to Noon

Ward 1: *Patrick Elliott
Ward 2: David Buzicky and Edwina Garcia
Ward 3: *Tom Fitzhenry

If a candidate is unable or unwilling to appear at the forum, a League of Women Voters member will read the absent candidate’s introductory and final statement. Campaign materials provided by the candidates will be placed on a table outside of the city council chambers for pick-up following the forum.

Do you know if this will be rebroadcast on the Internet or any of the local access channels?

Hi there! It will not be online. (I asked) But it will be rebroadcast on the public TV channels, however, I'm not sure when. I'll hopefully have coverage of what happened sometime tomorrow and/or Tuesday.
