UPDATED: Joshua Fuchs Resigns As High School Principal
Fuchs will finish out the school year.
At the beginning of the school year, Fuchs had every intention of being in the district for the long haul. And after Dr. Stephen West's departure, he went on the record with his intentions.
"I’m not going anywhere—I can promise that," he said. "I will be here as long as Richfield wants me here. ... The only reason that I would want to leave here is for retirement."
Of course, students took to social media after hearing rumblings of a resignation Tuesday night. Student Steve Guevara tweeted:
"Is Mr.Fuchs really leaving? Cause on my momma grave im leaving Richfield and going ova North cuz!"
After his tweet garnered questions from fellow students and followers he then wrote:
"Mr.Fuchs is offically done being my friend... #HeFake."
A discussion has also started on the Richfield Patch Facebook page:
Carly Thomas Kidd wrote:
"Wow! So disappointing for our district and the RHS students. It sure would be nice to have some consistency for our students. Will be interesting to hear a reason why being that he was so adamant about staying only 9 months ago."
Fuchs confirmed that he had given his resignation with Richfield Patch at around 9 p.m. Tuesday night, however, wouldn't comment on his reasoning at this time. He did say he would talk with Patch in the near future.
This was Fuch's first year as a principal and at RHS. He came to Richfield from the Oakland, CA area.
