Holy Angels Starliners Kick to Third at State

After finishing in the top six of the jazz competition Friday, the Starliners kick it up a notch Saturday with a top three finish in the Class AA high kick division.

After a , the Starliners of the kicked it into high gear Saturday, finishing third in the Class AA high kick division in the 2011 Girls Dance Team State Tournament.

Competing in the Target Center in Minneapolis before a crowd estimated at 7,000, the Starliners gave a top performance in the finals. The top 12 Class AA teams make the state tournament, with the top six advancing to Saturday night's finals.

The Starliners had a clean, crisp and fun routine which impressed the judges. It was the second consecutive top three high kick finish for the Starliners at state, placing second in the high kick division and sixth in jazz at the 2010 tournament.

Sartell-St. Stephen won the Class AA high kick championship, followed by Totino Grace of Fridley, MN. Defending state champion St. Cloud Cathedral along with Austin and Sauk Rapids-Rice rounded out the final six teams.
